January of 2002 - our new parish conducted a feasibility study and 69% of those responding supporting building a new church.
September 2002 – a Core Building Committee was formed in our parish.
June 2002 - Alan Birshbach, of Birshbach and Associates LTD, hired as architect for project. Father Phil Horrigan hired as liturgical consultant for project.
Oct 20, 2002 – the church at St. Joseph’s was closed due to a cracked boiler. Decisions were made not to spend dollars on repair of the boiler, working towards the future goal of a new church building.
January 2004 – 58.6 acres, just south of Berlin on Hwy 49, purchased from parishioners Larry and Karen Hargrave, for future site of parish complex, for total of $245,000.
June 6, 2004 – parish prayer service held at new building site.
August 2004 – Miron Construction hired as project manager.
October 2004 – brochure of preliminary plans for building project, including Phase I, Phase II and Phase III, mailed to each parishioner, with total projected cost of Phase I at $5.4 million
- last weekend of October 2004, large versions of plans displayed in church halls with opportunity for parishioners to ask questions of Core Building Committee.
January – February 2005 - Capital Campaign conducted to raise funds for Phase I
At kick off dinner on January 29, 2005, announcement made of anonymous donor willing to match $1 for every $3 donated or pledged, up to a total of $1,000,000.
April 23-24 2005 – presentations at all Masses with final results of Capital Campaign.
July 2005 – anonymous donor is revealed as Badger Mining Corporation Inc and company has donated the entire $1 Million.
July 2005 – Bob Schmitz, Chairman of Core Building Committee, makes presentation to parish about building project Phase I. Estimated cost of Phase I reduced from $5.4 Million to $4.6 Million by postponing administrative offices, bell tower, west carport, reduce size of storage basement and postpone some liturgical appointments/furnishings. Costs reduced to make project affordable based on results of Capital Campaign.
October 29, 2005 – St. Stanislaus church closed to control costs and work towards the goal of a new church building.
January 2006 – parish received approval from Diocese of Madison to begin construction.
March 21, 2006 – bids opened for building project, Phase I.
Mid April 2006 – groundbreaking and construction begins.
June 4, 2006 – parish site dedication ceremony/celebration.
July 22, 2007 – Church dedication.
